Just based on the knowledge I’ve gained in my 27 years having covered Anamosa High School sports, it’s rare when a coach sticks around longer than four or five years.

Watching Anamosa junior Emily Watters pitch, over the last couple of seasons really, has brought back a lot of memories for me and actually made me realize what a phenomenal history the Raider softball program has with the all-important pitching position going back more than a quarter of a century.

There were a lot of extremely somber faces as the Anamosa baseball team, players, coaches and fans, walked away from the field on a brutally hot night that saw heat-indexes soar well into the 100-degree range in Iowa City Tuesday, July 5.
