Marion man killed in motorcycle crash
The Jones County Sheriff’s Office, Iowa State Patrol, Cascade Fire Department and Cascade EMS responded to a motorcycle crash at Highway 136 and 190th Avenue South of Cascade May 12 at approximately 3:39 p.m., according to the crash report from the Iowa State Patrol. A 2017 Indian motorcycle driven by Charles James Mincks, 64, of Marion had left the roadway and entered the ditch. Mincks died as a result of the crash. The incident remains under investigation.
Authorities identify motorcyclist killed in crash near Cascade
Authorities released the name of a man killed in a motorcycle crash on May 12 at about 3:40 p.m. on Iowa 136, south of Cascade in Jones County. The Iowa State Patrol reported that Charles J. Mincks, 64, Marion, died in the wreck, but no additional information about the crash was released. Authorities state that Mincks was driving south when, for an “undetermined reason,” the motorcycle left the roadway and crashed into the ditch. The crash remains under investigation.
Hiawatha youth involved in crash
On Sunday, May 16, at 4:14 p.m., Linn County Sheriff’s Deputies, Palo Fire Department, and Hiawatha Ambulance Service were dispatched to an accident involving injury in the area of 2660 Linn Drive in Palo. Upon emergency personnel’s arrival they discovered a driver had lost control of his vehicle traveling north on Linn Drive rolling his truck coming to rest in the west ditch. The driver of the Chevy S10 truck was able to exit and was the only occupant. He was identified as 14 year old Gage Grother from Palo. He was not wearing his seatbelt at the time and was transported by Hiawatha Ambulance to Mercy Hospital for his injuries. The driver has citations pending.
