Linn-Mar’s softball team went 3-1 at the West Delaware Tournament Friday and Saturday, downing Cedar Rapids Washington 12-0, Edgewood-Colesburg 10-0 and Dyersville Beckman 9-1. The team lost to Clear Creek-Amana 7-2.

The Linn-Mar Lions dipped to 8-13 on the season after tangling with the Liberty High School Lightning in a Mississippi Valley Conference varsity baseball doubleheader Friday, June 18 at home. The Bolts took the opener 3-2 and won the nightcap 11-8.

Nearly 120 runners took part in the Robins Roundup Twilight 5K which started and finished at East Knoll Park Friday, June 11.

It was an impressive week for Linn-Mar’s softball team which went 7-1, improving its record to 10-4 on the season. The Lions shut out Dubuque in both ends of a doubleheader, swept Cedar Falls, split with Cedar Rapids Jefferson, and swept Xavier.

Linn-Mar’s baseball team improved to 8-7 overall with a doubleheader sweep of Cedar Rapids Washington, a non-conference loss to Solon and a split with Dubuque Wahlert. The Lions are in contention in the Mississippi Valley Conference — Mississippi Division with a 7-3 division record.

As the weather has heated up, so has the competition with Marion’s baseball team taking on a couple Class 4A opponents this past Friday at Waterloo Riverfront Stadium. The squad fell 8-7 to North Scott then rebounded with a 3-2 win over Bettendorf to improve their record to 14-2 on the season.

Linn-Mar’s girls’ soccer team was upset in the region finals. Muscatine downed the top-seeded Lions 4-1 in the Class 3A, Region 7 championship game held Friday, June 4, at Lions Stadium in Marion.

Marion’s girls’ soccer team found a roadblock to the state tournament in the form a Mount Vernon. Marion fell to the Mustangs 8-2, Wednesday, June 2, in the second round of the Class 2A, Region 7 tournament. Xavier beat Mount Vernon 4-1 in the region finals for a berth at state.

Though Marion, went out in the first round, the boys’ soccer squad went toe-to-toe with one of the state’s most storied programs. Marion fell 1-0 to eventual state champion Xavier Tuesday, June 1, in the first round of the Class 3A state soccer tournament at Cownie Soccer Complex in Des Moines.

Cedar Rapids Prairie successfully defended its home field and knocked Linn-Mar out of the Class 3A Substate 5 boys’ soccer tournament. The Lions fell 1-0 to top-seeded Prairie Monday, May 24.

Linn-Mar senior Tatum Depuydt cleared the field by five strokes to earn medalist honors at the Class 4A, Region 4 meet held Monday, May 24 at Brown Deer Golf Club in Coralville. Depuydt shot a one-under par 70 to lead Linn-Mar to a second-place team finish and a state berth.

Marion’s boys soccer team came roaring out of the gates to post a 3-2 upset of Nevada in Class 2A substate action. Nevada was the top seed, but Marion took a 2-0 first-half lead and held on for the win.

Girls soccer Marion improved to 10-3 on the season with a pair of wins this past week. The squad downed Williamsburg 4-1 Tuesday, May 11, at home and South Tama 11-1 Friday, May 14 on the road to picked up its eighth and ninth consecutive wins.
