Cornell senior middle blocker Allison Eikenberry and senior setter Danielle Amonica have been named to the 2020-21 CoSIDA Academic All-District Volleyball Team, selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America.
Eikenberry and Amonica were among 10 players chosen to the NCAA Division III First Team in District 8. The pool of nominees is comprised of 21 states, in addition to Canada.
Eight of the district’s honorees carry a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.90, including Eikenberry (4.00) and Amonica (3.92).
This is the fourth consecutive year Coach Jeff Meeker’s volleyball program has claimed an academic all-district performer. Eikenberry gained the distinction for the second year in a row.
Eikenberry and Amonica advance to the national ballot for Academic All-America consideration. The Division III All-America Teams will be announced July 14.
A CoSIDA Third Team Academic All-American in 2020, Eikenberry graduated with degrees in biochemistry & molecular biology and chemistry. She was recipient of Cornell’s prestigious Russell W. Landis Award in May.
Amonica also excelled in all areas of campus life, earning a degree in biochemistry & molecular biology. She is a three-time academic all-MWC honoree.
Amonica blossomed as the team’s starting setter the past two seasons. She climbed to No. 6 on the program’s career list for assists per set (6.15). Amonica finished with 1,206 career assists, 11th-most all-time by a Cornell player.
