Robert Leo Capaccioli, 94, beloved father, grandfather, granpoopa, and great-great-grandfather, drew his last breath Feb. 18, 2021, extremely despondent that the Green Bay Packers did not play in the Super Bowl this year. Born Aug. 22, 1926, he served in the Navy during World War II. After the war, he married Esther Jeanette Ammala, who preceded him in death, and together they raised 10 corn-fed children in the Hawkeye state. He spent his years regaling his children with stories of the Depression, bawdy Navy life, and working with the Apollo space program. The greatest highlight of his life was when his beloved Chicago Cubs won the World Series in 2016, though he still found time to watch the Packers, Carolina Hurricanes and the Iowa Hawkeyes.
