The Liberty High varsity boys basketball team pulled off an 84-81 win over the Golden Eagles on Tuesday, Feb. 1, in Dubuque.
The Lightning entered the contest at 6-8 overall versus Wahlert’s 10-4 record but only trailed by one point, 23-22, at the end of the first period and pulled ahead to a 43-37 lead at halftime. Liberty continued to roll in the third, building a 61-54 advantage heading into the final period.
Da’Shon Fisher led all with 27, Luke Ramsey produced 23, including seven three-pointers, and Graham Beckman had a ten-point night. Griffin Kraft led on the boards with six rebounds.
The Bolts, Golden Eagles and Cedar Rapids Washington held a three-way tie, 5-4, in the MVC Mississippi Division standings with Cedar Falls on top at 12-2 overall, 9-1 in the division.
